Self-promotion is generally banned unless explicit moderator permission is granted. Posts must adhere to specific content guidelines regarding wholesomeness, anime-style, and originality. Non-OC works are limited to one per week and require proper sourcing and flair.

The rules, in their words

1. Be Nice and Civil: Be nice and civil in this community. Posts and comments should be appropriate and inoffensive. Politics, religious discussions, and other topics that may cause controversy or drama are not allowed. In addition to these community-specific expectations, users are expected to follow Reddit's [Content Policy](https://redditinc.com/policies/content-policy) and common sense when conducting themselves.
2. Wholesome Anime-Related Content: A "wholesome" post is: - Has positive and meaningful elements to promote the well-being of mind and spirit; - Absent of malicious, ill-intended, or melancholic elements; and, - Depicts an easily identifiable context or story within the submission that differentiates it from a simple cute post – in other words, the positivity should be derived from the context/story being presented rather than solely on the image’s likeness. Questionable or controversial sources and themes may be removed.
3. Wholesome Animemes: This community is intended for wholesome animemes, which are anime memes that use anime-related content. While a quality wholesome animeme is subjective, the following will be removed because they're either not fit for this community or too low-effort: - Description posts, reaction posts, shitposts, and posts with uncreative edits. - Recurring posts that are essentially copy-and-pastes of previous submissions with little to no edits.
4. Wholesome Anime: Despite this community’s name, r/wholesomeanimemes is also a place for wholesome anime contents that are not animemes. Submissions made under this rule must be anime-styled, such as from anime, manga, or anime-styled fanworks. - Western-, manhwa-, or other non-anime type content will be removed.
5. Criteria for Submitting Wholesome Anime: An extension to rule 4; all wholesome anime submissions are subject to the same criteria: - They must be clear, clean, and unedited. - They must be viewable through the post itself on Reddit. - Visual obstructions and filler spaces must either be absent or kept to a minimum. - They must be properly oriented, formatted, and cropped for viewing. - They must have a satisfactory and appropriate title. - A proper and direct source must be provided. - The proper post flair must be used.
6. Sources for Non-OC Works: An extension to rule 4; proper and direct sources to the original material are required for non-OC works. - The source must be given in the title or the comments. This is not a source-finding community. Do not post and ask for the source. Do not post and rely on others to do your work.
7. Weekly Limit for Non-OC Works: An extension to rule 4; users are limited to one (1) weekly submission for non-OC works. - These are submissions that can be assigned with one of the following flairs: “Wholesome Anime,” “Wholesome Manga,” “Wholesome Anime-Styled Work (Non-OC),” or "Wholesome Animeme (Non-OC)". - Unused submissions do not accumulate or carry over. This weekly limit resets every Sunday at 00:00 UTC. Use the appropriate post flair, otherwise your post may be removed.
8. No NSFW Content: No content depicting or referencing hentai, nudity, or other R-rated/pornographic materials. No content derived or sourced from hentai or other R-rated sources. Even if the submission itself does not show any R-rated material, the post will be removed (e.g., cropped porn). Highly or heavily suggestive content is not allowed (e.g., horny-posting, heavily implied sexual content, hypersexualized content). Mildly suggestive content (e.g., swimsuits) is okay, but the post must be marked as NSFW.
9. No Unmarked Spoilers: All potential spoilers must be properly hidden and marked, whether it’s a post or a comment. - All appropriate and relevant information should be disclosed. All submissions that contain potential spoilers must include the source in the submission title. Alternatively, use the source as the title. All comments that contain potential spoilers must include a proper forewarning and be hidden using `>!spoiler!<`.
10. Submit High-Quality Content: This community strives to provide high-quality content to its members. As such, low-quality submissons will be removed, and these include: - Text walls or text-heavy posts. - Karma-farming or begging posts. - Redirected links to view the post. - AI-generated posts and content. - Posts asking questions or recommendations. - Anything that can reasonably be treated as spam.
11. Restricted Content: The following formats, templates, and posts are currently banned from being submitted: - Templates that follow the “Guys only want one thing and…” and other similar templates. - Templates that use the Skyrim Skill Tree. - Templates that are attention-grabbing and force the audience to interact with the post (e.g., “Stop! Gimme a hug and I hope you have a good day~”).
12. No Reposts: No reposting previously seen content from this community. - Submissions that overlap with existing submissions will be treated as reposts unless they are substantially different to become a new, standalone post. No reposting from content creators who do not want their works to be reposted/reproduced elsewhere unless explicit permission has been granted.
13. No Advertising: No advertising or self-promotion of any kind in this community without explicit permission from moderators.
14. No Bots, Novelty Accounts, and Other Harmful Accounts: Bots, novelty accounts, and other accounts (e.g., repost bots, spam bots, porn bots, merchandise bots) that are harmful to this community are not allowed and will be banned.
