Strength Training
Don't launch hereSelf-promotion or “I made X” posts get removed or banned.
Can you post your project here?
You can only post videos of yourself lifting, form checks, or PRs. Self posts are limited to program reviews. All other content, including self-promotion, should be posted in the weekly discussion threads. Moderators have final say on what constitutes self-promotion.
Before you post: Rule 7 explicitly bans self-promotion. Rule 1 states 'All other content should go into the weekly thread', and Rule 2 states 'All other content should be directed to the Discussion Threads'. Moderators have discretion over what is considered self-promotion.
The rules, in their words
- Allowable Post Types: We only allow video posts of personal record lifts, form check videos, videos of users lifting, and self posts of long form program reviews. All other posts will be removed. All other content should go into the weekly thread. Thank you for your continued interest and involvement in the sub.
- All content must be relevant to Strength Training: All content must be related to strength training in some way. The following are allowed here: Videos of yourself lifting, setting a PR, or asking for a form check. We only allow self posts of program reviews. All other content should be directed to the Discussion Threads.
- Be a functional adult: Treat other users with respect. Don't be disruptive, a troll, or intentionally unpleasant. If you have nothing nice to say, maybe say nothing at all. Moderators will determine what is or is not appropriate and may issue bans accordingly.
- Give good advice: Don't give bad advice like "lower the weight and work on form". Give people something that they can actually use to do stuff better.
- No Medical Advice or Misinformation: Giving medical advice online often comes from a source of trying to help. Unfortunately, it often can cause confusion and worsen patient outcomes. Please try to avoid giving medical advice out online and instead suggest that someone go to their physician to seek out treatment, even if that means that they return to their physician after being evaluated one or more times.
- Don't be a creep/Keep it PG-13: Don't post overly or overtly sexual content either in posts or comments, and don't creep on other users. Try to keep it PG-13.
- No Self Promotion/Monetization: Self-promotion posts that are excessively blatant, irrelevant to the community, or frequently posted will not be allowed. The purpose of this community is to foster meaningful discussions and exchanges, not to serve as a platform for promoting personal interests or businesses. **Moderators will determine what is or is not self promotion and monetization.**
- Walk In Rule: If your first act in the sub is to be disruptive and break rules, we are more likely to just permanently ban you than give you any chances.
- All Bans At Mod Discretion: All bans are issued at mod discretion.
- Don't Be A Dishonest Rules-Lawyering Fuckwit: Don't attempt to argue with the mods about whether our interpretation of the rules is correct. We wrote them, we know them better than you, and being a dishonest fuckstick and attempting to rules-lawyer is a no-no. This may be quoted as the /u/Safe2BeFree rule. It's named after him because he's a dishonest rules-lawyering fuckwit.
- Low quality comments: Do not give criticism for the sake of criticism, offer a solution or something productive to the topic of strength training. This includes but is not limited to: - form checks: do not just criticize a user's form or choice of exercise, offer something they can use - concern trolling/fearmongering: do not needlessly fearmonger for other user's safety - refer to rule 3: if you have nothing nice to say, don't say it all. If you feel you have valid criticism, offer it along something constructive
