Self-promotion in the form of advertising is only permitted for active community members. DIY projects are allowed if they are not for sale and include a write-up. Reviews require a substantive write-up and disclosure of free items.

The rules, in their words

1. Don't Be An Asshole: Trolling, creepshots, slurs, bigotry, personal attacks, insults, and demeaning comments such as those based on sexual orientation, race, gender, or other social profiles are strictly prohibited. [Unsolicited comments](https://redd.it/35v9qr) regarding fitness, weight, and body type are also not allowed even if they are not intended as insults. No lewd, sexualizing, or horny comments. And _criticism must be constructive_! ## **Rule-breaking comments will be removed and you may be banned.**
2. Posts and Comments Must Be Discussion-Oriented and On-Topic: Content you post should be useful, relevant, thoughtful, and/or substantive. Any post or comment that is deemed off-topic, adding no value, or otherwise inappropriate for the subreddit will be removed (including memes). ## **Off-topic content may be removed at mod discretion and [your "right to free speech" is not being infringed upon](https://xkcd.com/1357/).**
3. Non-Discussion and Simple Questions Go in the Questions Thread: ## **Non-discussion and simple questions don't warrant their own threads and must be asked in [this thread](https://new.reddit.com/r/streetwear/search/?q=Daily%20Simple%20Questions%20And%20General%20Discussion%20Megathread&restrict_sr=1&t=day), stickied at the top of the sub**. That's most of them. Yes, you who is reading this and thinks your post is going to be a discussion or needs an exception ("W2C", "LPU", etc.). We also strongly suggest a subreddit search and googling before you post!
4. WDYWT Must Meet Minimum Standards and Have A Text Breakdown of Your Outfit: Pics must be of yourself, well-lit, in-focus, undistorted, and one must show the whole outfit. No reps, mirror pics/selfies, bathrooms, nudes, lewds, or bare/socked feet. You must also post a text breakdown of your outfit as a comment on the thread or in the photo subtitle/header. ## **Fits [not meeting minimum standards](https://www.reddit.com/r/CahootiePublic/comments/b2zf8m/the_importance_of_moderator_curation_on_subreddits/) will be removed at mod discretion. Yes, this is "gatekeeping".**
5. Advertising is Permitted ONLY for Active Community Members, Subject to Approval: ## **"Advertising" is permitted ONLY for active community members participating in the /r/streetwear community. No participation? Don't advertise, you'll be banned!** Advertising includes: - sales/listings - coupons/discounts - giveaways - crowdfunding - market research/feedback - site links - social media/blogs/vlogs Participation includes: - Constructive comments on ***other users' posts*** (comments on your own threads don't count) - Activity in megathreads - Non-advert submissions
6. DIY Is Not Advertising and Must Have A Short Write-up: ## **"Advertising" is permitted for active community members participating in the /r/streetwear community. No participation? Don't advertise, you'll be banned!** DIY stuff cannot be something you're selling, considering selling, sold, soliciting prospective buyer feedback on, etc. - that is all advertising. You must also post an accompanying short write-up. If you've made something and you care about it, tell us about it, you should have something to say. No art printed onto tshirts/hoodies.
7. No Fakes/Reps of Clothing or Shoes: While reps have become a part of fashion, we do not promote their consumption on /r/streetwear. ## **No reps discussion here, no reps in fitpics.** You can post legit checks and reps content on the reps subs on Reddit or on other relevant groups on Discord, FB, IG, etc.
8. Reviews Must Be Substantive, With Disclosures: ## **Use the "Discussion" flair for reviews. You must post a substantive write-up. You should have a lot to say and accompanying pictures. If you received the item for free and/or from the maker, you must disclose this.**
9. Low-effort fits will be removed to improve the quality of the sub at mods' discretion: Mods will approve only higher-effort outfits to increase the quality of the sub.
