Self-promotion posts are not explicitly mentioned, but rule 28 prohibits brand-name product placement, stating only generic products are allowed. There are also strict rules against memes, screenshots, and macros.

The rules, in their words

1. Science.: This isn't r/stupidquestions , r/askshittyscience , r/askmath , or anything else. If it's not strictly science-related, it doesn't belong here.
2. Butt-related content does not belong here. : That's r/askshittyscience , not us. Quit mixing us up, it's unimaginably tiresome for everyone who appreciates actual sophisticated humor.
3. No excessive NSFW.: No imbecilic brainrot about various body parts and functions. It's not funny and everyone is sick of seeing it here.
4. Keep your dang politics/religion outta my dang science.: Self-explanatory. No need to post your existential crisis either, you edgelords. Somebody has one over here at least once a week, you're not special.
5. No puns or dad jokes.: Puns and dad jokes cheapen science and undermine the fine work that we are trying to do here. This rule used to also include blatantly misrepresented images, but you guys didn't listen, so we nixed images and videos entirely.
