Self-promotion and promotional posts, including for your own music or playlists, are explicitly banned by rule R5. You are directed to the sister subreddit r/PimpMyRap for sharing or promoting amateur music.

The rules, in their words

1. #R1: Be Civil: 1) Be Civil - Be cool and remember your [Reddiquette](https://support.reddithelp.com/hc/en-us/articles/205926439). - Follow [Reddit Content Policy] (https://www.redditinc.com/policies/content-policy) guidelines. - No personal attacks. - Instead of responding to uncivil comments with your own incivility, please use the report button. - Do not harass other users. No trolling or sealioning. - Promote good, honest discussion, and not flame wars.
2. #R2: No Derogatory Remarks That Are Prejudiced, Bigoted, Racist, Or Discriminatory In Any Way: - We have zero tolerence for any discrimination. - NO prejudice, bigotry, racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, etc etc etc. - It's ok to discuss these things in relation to hip hop culture, but you will be immediately banned if they are used to attack one another, or used to promote hate.
3. #R3: No Doxxing, Personal Info, Or Brigading: - Prior to posting, please remove/redact any personally identifying information from images. This includes, but is not limited to: Names, addresses, phone numbers, pictures, etc. - Anything that may be considered doxxing or brigading will be removed, and you will be permanently banned. - Don't tag other subs or users (whether on reddit or any other social media platform) in an effort to brigade them.
4. #R4: No Gatekeeping: - EVERYONE is welcome here. This sub is about sharing ideas/discussions about rap music, and hip hop culture as a whole. - Don't discourage others from participating. Hip hop heads come in all colors, ages, shapes, and sizes. - If you don't agree with someone else's taste in music, share some suggestions they might be interested in, or move on.
5. #R5: No Self-Promotion Or Any Other Promotional Posts (including playlists): - Please do not use this sub for self-promotion or the promotion of anyone else. No Youtubers, vloggers, bloggers, e-beggars, crowdfunding, playlists, etc. - If you want to post about an established star, use links that go directly to their official Youtube or other official social media. - If you want to share/promote your own music, or another amateur's music, you can post it over in our sister sub r/PimpMyRap. 6. #R6: No Low-Effort Posts or Spam: - Your post/comment must add value to r/Rap. - Please put effort and thought into your posts. Use descriptive titles and further explain your opinions/ideas in the body of your post enough to spark further discussion. - Please DO NOT post any spam. If it doesn't directly relate to rap or hip hop, it doesn't belong here. - Please do not post surveys or seek any type of demographics info.
7. #R7: No Off-Topic: - This is a rap music and hip hop culture subreddit, and that should be the primary subject in all posts. - Reply to and about the OP's topic or subject matter. No off-topic debates aka thread-hijacking. Don't engage in flame wars trying to "convince" others. Agree to disagree. Make a point and move on. - NO POLITICS. Do not attempt to spark a political debate or push your political agendas in this sub. It’s inappropriate and will get you banned.
8. #R8: All Rumors/News Must Be Sourced: - If you don't have a source to link to, please do not make a rumor or news post. - The source must be the originating point of the rumor/news - IT MUST BE A CREDIBLE NEWS SOURCE. Don't link to some rando's vlog or blog. - A screenshot would not qualify, nor would just a name, nor would "I saw it" or "I have insider information".
9. #R9: Do Not Post NSFW Content: - Do not glorify violence or death. - Posts/comments that threaten, advocate, celebrate, suggest, wish, hope, dream, express extreme indifference towards, or could result in harm of any kind, violence, or death, are prohibited. - Porn and borderline-porn are not allowed. Doing so will result in an immediate ban.
10. #R10: Must Use Quote Marks For Controversial Lyrics And Other Lines: The r/rap Mod Team and community may understand that you were quoting titles or lyrics, but Reddit filters and Admins may not. We ask that you always CYA by properly using quote marks and clearly stating you are quoting music lyrics or an artist when posting controversial phrases or lines that could get your account flagged or suspended by Reddit.
11. #R11: No AI-generated Content: - Don't post AI-generated pics, vids, lyrics, or other content.
12. #R12: Moderator's Discretion: - Moderators have discretion to remove any posts or comments that either deviate from hip hop discussion, or are deemed not a fit for this community.
