Post with careYou can post, but there are rules to clear first.

Can you post your project here?

Self-promotion for software or services is generally not welcome and is explicitly banned if commercial. If your non-commercial project is open source, you must contact the moderators for approval beforehand and be prepared to engage with the community.

Before you post: Must be open source, non-commercial, and mods must be contacted and approve in advance. Must identify yourself and stick around to answer questions. HTTPS sites only.

The rules, in their words

  1. No Closed Source Software: Promotion of closed source privacy software is not welcome in /r/privacy. It’s not easily verified or audited. Thus, your privacy and security is at greater risk.
  2. Submission Rules for Developers: If you’re a developer or employee of a company that makes non-commercial privacy-related software or services, you may post links/comments *if it is open source and you have discussed expectations with the Mods in advance.* You must clearly identify yourself, and stick around to answer questions. Remember we’re a community, not a place to advertise. HTTPS sites only. [Contact us first](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=%2Fr%2Fprivacy).
  3. Don’t Engage In Self Promotion: Refrain from repeatedly pushing traffic to personal or other sites, especially if commercial in nature.
  4. Only Approved Surveys, Fundraising & Petitions Allowed: All surveys, fundraising and petitions must be approved by the Mods before submission and non commercial in nature. [Contact us first](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=%2Fr%2Fprivacy).
  5. Be Nice!: Be nice – have some fun! Don’t jump on people for making a mistake. Different opinions make life interesting. Attack arguments, not people. Hate speech, partisan arguments or baiting will **not** be tolerated.
  6. No Violence: Don’t suggest violence or destruction as a means to an end, especially directed at groups traditionally targeted by violence.
  7. Topic Already Covered: Before posting, check that a discussion has not already been started. Use the search function, [check out our FAQ](https://www.reddit.com/r/privacy/wiki/index) and/or check new submissions.
  8. Not Tech Support: This is not a tech support subreddit. These posts may be removed.
  9. Using Editorialized Title: Refrain from editorializing titles; use the original title of the article you are posting. Any thoughts, feelings, or questions belong in the comments section.
  10. Original Source: When news breaks, some blog sites will try highjacking the story and rewording the original article for clicks. Boo! Also, they do a worse job. So, link to the original source.
  11. Meme/Image/Video Posts Generally Not Allowed: Don’t post memes or other images, funny or not. Infographics may be OK. Video posts, especially if they drive traffic to Google, are frowned upon.
  12. Fueling Conspiracy Thinking Isn’t Healthy: Please don’t fuel conspiracy thinking here. Don’t try to spread FUD, especially against reliable privacy-enhancing software. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Show credible sources and [learn how to spot fake news](https://www.factcheck.org/2016/11/how-to-spot-fake-news/).
  13. No VPN, Proxy or Crypto-Currency Discussions: Due to the commercial nature of VPNs, Proxies and most blockchain technologies, discussions are better directed to the appropriate Subreddits. Discussing them as a category is great, advocating for individual ones is not.
  14. No discussion of alternative Android OS/ROMs: Discussion of alternative android operating systems is not permitted. All discussion should happen on the relevant sub for the OS in question
