Self-promotion is allowed if it's not the majority of your contributions. Posts demonstrating projects should include code to encourage discussion. Commercial advertising is prohibited.

The rules, in their words

1. Excessive Self-Promotion: It's ok to promote your own content, or content that you're otherwise vested in, but it should not constitute a majority of your contributions.
2. Where's the Javascript?: Demos can be fun, but they really don't provide for much discussion unless code is provided as well.
3. /r/JavaScript is not a support forum: Is this a help request? Try /r/LearnJavascript instead!
4. Java !== Javascript: Java is not the same as Javascript.
5. "Remember the human.": "Remember the human." It's ok to disagree, but we should attack ideas, not people.
6. Low-effort content (listicles, memes, etc.): Low-effort content such as listicles, memes, clickbait, etc. is prohibited.
7. Advertising: Advertising paid products and services is prohibited.
