Self-promotion is strictly prohibited with no exceptions, and any violation will result in an immediate ban. This rule applies to any media created by yourself or someone you know.

The rules, in their words

1. Posts must be an “If I like…” [IIL] or “If you like…” [IYL]. Title must be formatted correctly.: This is a subreddit for two kinds of posts: posts offering recommendations and posts asking for recommendations. **[IIL]**... > This should be at the beginning of your title to indicate that you are looking for recommendations. **[IYL]**... > This should be at the beginning of your title to indicate that you are recommending something. Posts labeled as an "IIL" that are an "IYL" (or vice-versa) will be removed.
2. Self-Promotion is prohibited, no exceptions.: Self-promotion (links to any media created by yourself or someone you know) is strictly prohibited. Playlists and links to media will also be removed when posted if suspected of containing your own content. **This is an instaban rule, no exceptions.**
3. Titles must include at least one example. Posts must be descriptive.: When asking for recommendations, include at least one example *AND* a description of why you like it. * Vague or bland posts with no examples + description do not yield many responses and clutter the sub. * "[IIL] these albums, [WEWIL]" is not an acceptable title. * A good example is: "[IIL] Albums like Don't Say No by Billy Squire and others, [WEWIL]"
4. Posts may not contain more than 9 examples.: Posts may not list more than 9 examples in the title or the body. * No one wants to read through your list of 987 of your favorite songs or 59 favorite movies from every genre and then attempt to recommend something you might like based on that mess. * Ideally, posts should have 1-3 examples in the title and list other examples in the *body* of the post.
5. All links must be from YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, IMDb, or Letterboxd.: Any other linked domains will be removed. If you are posting a link of any kind, please do not use the "link" post function. Posts yield more recommendations when you describe what you like about the media (per Rule 4), so it would be better to post as a "text" post with the link copied into it instead.
6. No Screenshot Posts.: This sub does not allow screenshots or image posts of album covers, such as Topsters. These posts are low effort, have minimal engagement, and are often very hard for others to respond since they usually list too many examples with too little in common. Screenshots are hard to read, and can't be accessed by people who need screen readers for visual disabilities. Don't be lazy - type your post.
7. Being nice is mandatory.: Being rude about someone’s taste in anything is unacceptable. If you don’t have a recommendation or valuable input of any kind, continue scrolling. This is also not a subreddit for political discourse or edgy jokes. Posts and comments deemed as such will be removed and the user risks a temp ban depending on severity. Outright insulting someone will result in a permaban, no exceptions.
