Don't launch hereSelf-promotion or “I made X” posts get removed or banned.
Can you post your project here?
Self-promotion is strictly banned. You cannot publicly promote your own products, services, brands, or shops. Sharing your own work is allowed but must be for design discussion, not self-promotion, and requires the 'Sharing Work' flair and a comment with project context.
Before you post: Rule 1 explicitly states 'This community is not for self-promotion' and 'You cannot publicly promote your own products, services, brand, or shop'. Rule 3 allows sharing work for critique/discussion but not self-promotion, and requires 'Sharing Work' flair and a contextual comment.
The rules, in their words
- No promotional/commercial activities.: This community is not for self-promotion - social media pushing, contests, surveys, or advertising. It’s not for jobs or recruitment: please use r/designjobs, r/forhire, r/jobs, or r/picrequests. You cannot publicly promote your own products, services, brand, or shop - including design services, keep it in DMs. Sharing work is for the design discussion, not self promotion. Remember: It is okay to be a reddit account with a website, it is not okay to be a website with a reddit account.
- Graphic design only.: This community is solely for graphic design, this means no purely illustration posts. Graphic design is the process of visual communication and problem-solving. Any content which does not have a defined message to communicate, or problem to solve, will be removed.
- Shared work must have a comment for context and use the green "Sharing Work" flair.: This includes posting work for critique, discussion or inspiration. Question, inspiration and discussion flair tags are not for sharing your own work. You must write a comment explaining any work that you post. The work’s objective, its audience, your design decisions, etc. This information is necessary to allow people to understand your project and provide feedback.
- Include basic information when asking for hardware advice: When asking for advice or suggestions for hardware such as tablets and laptops, please give basic information such as location, budget and usage. This information will allow people to give more accurate and more helpful suggestions. After all, how can people suggest something to you if we don't know what your budget it or what you need it for?
- Low effort posts, what style is this, AI-farming and memes: Memes will be removed Low effort posts will be removed Obvious AI-generated posts will be removed and will result in a ban. This also relates to low-effort 'What Style is This' posts that are clearly based for AI prompts
- No basic/repeated questions. Critique requests go under shared work.: Have you done a Google search for your question? It might be faster than posting. Have you checked our wiki page for FAQ's and Portfolio Advice? Have you searched this sub for similar questions? This also applies to font identification questions: use r/identifythisfont instead.
- This is not a “homework” forum.: This is not a place to pick the brains of other designers to do your job for you. You can ask questions, or post asking for inspiration, but please don’t cross the line to getting other users to do your work for you. No surveys, users' privacy cannot be guaranteed.
- No off-topic/non-civil discussion.: We recognise that design can be political and controversial. We welcome that content here, but please keep all discussion in the comments civil and focussed on the design. This rule also applies to responding to those who leave critical feedback – please give, and accept, feedback politely.
- Credit others appropriately.: If posting someone else's work, use the Inspiration flair. If posting your own work but it's been heavily inspired by, or has drawn on, elements of another person's design, you must credit them. Claiming someone else's work as your own will result in removal.
- No illegal activity: We do not allow discussion of illegal activity. This includes piracy of paid software/resources, as well as illegal requests (eg questions about forging documents) and visual/text content which is illegal.
- No flair abuse: You must use the appropriate flair for your work. See rule 2/3 for further details. 'Inspiration' flair is for sharing others' design work. 'Discussion' is for sharing multiples' design work or discussing general design. 'Sharing Resources', 'Tutorial' and 'Asking Question' must not include your own work. Sharing your own work is always Sharing Work flair. Abuse will result in bans.
- No Candid / Non-Consenting Explicit / Sensitive Content: Any candid, non-consenting, overly explicit/sensitive imagery or videos of any persons uploaded to the r/graphic_design subreddit will result in an immediate ban without recourse. The moderators of r/graphic_design will work with any legal requests submitted for poster information or otherwise in the event of a user uploading any content of this manner.
- Contact / Engage Moderators Appropriately: For modding decisions, modmail is the only accepted way to get in touch with the sub moderators. Any mod call-outs or tags in threads regardless of context can be handled as User-targeting/harassment. Meta-threads about modding decisions will generally be removed also but you are free to message the mods and give feedback; the mods will discuss these matters in private.
