Doctor Who - The Greatest Show in the Galaxy!
Post with careYou can post, but there are rules to clear first.
Can you post your project here?
Self-promotion links are allowed if you are already an active user in the subreddit. Do not use affiliate or funding links, and avoid posts that are solely for boosting activity. Posts must be relevant to Doctor Who and not constitute mass-produced merchandise.
Before you post: Must be an active user in the sub before posting external links. No affiliate or funding links.
The rules, in their words
- Be nice: See the sub's wiki under "policies" for details, but basically - be nice and considerate to other users on the sub. We're all individual people who enjoy Doctor Who, disagreements are allowed and expected but should never turn nasty or personal. This also includes gatekeeping, bad-faith contributions like flamebaiting or trolling, and complaints about voting patterns.
- No spoilers: Posts or comments pertaining to future Doctor Who episodes are considered spoilers and must be tagged/hidden as such. This includes major casting information and applies regardless of the source (including official BBC sources). Titles can not contain spoilers at all. Our spoiler period ends at 00:00 UTC seven days following the episode. "Next Time..." trailers are considered spoilers for the episode they advertise. See the wiki for details on spoiler policy and how to hide them in posts.
- No piracy related content: Piracy is a violation of the reddit Terms of Service. Links to, requests for, suggestions of, or discussions about the piracy of Doctor Who episodes, audio, or books are not appropriate and will be removed. Repeat offenders run the risk of more permanent action. This includes discussions/requests of: torrents, direct downloads, unofficial streaming sites (including video and audio sharing sites), methods of bypassing regional restrictions from streaming sites
- No memes or meme-like content: This includes but not limited to: captioned photos, advice animals, rage faces, reaction posts, text as images, tier lists, or other image macros. Any meme/meme-like content should go to /r/DoctorWhumour instead
- Nothing unrelated to Doctor Who: This includes but not limited to: lookalike objects, vaguely related/similar situations in real-life or another film/show, actors outside their Doctor Who roles, no fancasts, the words "Doctor Who" in a context unrelated to the franchise, cracks in someone's wall, elements photoshopped in like inserted TARDISes, random cemetery statues, etc.
- No social media or chat screenshots: No screen/video captures of social media or chat logs. Examples of these include, but not limited to: SMS/Instant Messages, Facebook messages, Twitter conversations, Omegle logs.
- No mass produced merch: Posts about common mass-produced merchandise such as toys, sonic screwdrivers, and t-shirts, are not permitted. Handmade products are acceptable. Mass marketed merchandise may be allowed depending on the interest or rarity of the item; for example, if your great aunt Matilda found a signed Tom Baker-era "Doctor Who Sings the Blues" album.
- Self promotion: Before posting links to an your external site/channel/blog, you should be already active in the sub as a user. Simple one/two line posts/comments to boost activity do not count as "being active". No affiliate or funding links are allowed, including voting competitions.
- No recent reposts: Any topics/items/images/etc. posted within the last 3 months (by you or someone else). Use Reddit’s search bar to check before posting. This includes things that are already covered in the wiki/FAQ, please also check it before posting.
- No misleading titles: No misleading or non-descriptive titles. Posts, especially news posts, that aren't indicative of their containing material are subject to removal. Titles should describe the material you're posting while not containing any spoilers. Topics for specific regions (such as issues watching, conventions, finding merch) must specify the country in question in your title; for example, [UK].
- No topics being covered in megathreads: During large events, e.g. new episodes, Comic-Cons, Halloween and Christmas and so on, all posts related to the occasion (costumes, gifts, etc.) should go in a megathread dedicated to the event. When new episodes are being broadcast, please keep all relevant discussion inside the provided megathreads for 24 hours after broadcast. After this, the rules will be relaxed and you may post your own threads with your thoughts on the new episode.
