The rules, in their words

  1. Posts must be related to careers in computer science or the tech industry.: All posts in /r/cscareerquestions must be related to computer science careers or working in the tech industry. Non-career college-related questions like "Which school should I go to?" belong in /r/csmajors.
  2. Posts must show thought, effort, and research.: Before posting, the post author should make an effort to do their own research, check our [FAQ](https://www.reddit.com/r/cscareerquestions/wiki/index), search the subreddit, and provide details as part of their question. Low effort questions or posts will be removed.
  3. Some questions belong in daily stickied threads.: Some topics in /r/cscareerquestions are restricted to rotating sticky threads. If you make a post about those topics, it may be removed and you may be redirected to the stickied thread. Full list of topics and sticky schedule can be found [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/cscareerquestions/wiki/index).
  4. Survey or data-collecting posts require mod approval.: Posts which attempt to collect a large amount of data (such as salary-sharing threads or "homework assignments" meant to learn about careers in CS) or links to off-site surveys are generally not allowed in /r/cscareerquestions. Please contact the mods for more information.
  5. Promotional or advertising threads are only allowed in the monthly stickied threads.: Promotional or advertising content regarding a person, service, or website must go in the monthly stickied thread on the first Sunday of each month. All other promotional comments or posts will be removed.
  6. Trolling or being a jerk is not allowed.: Be human, don't be a jerk. All posts and comments should be polite and professional. Egregious offenses will get you banned.
  7. Posts must contain a question or foster discussion.: Posts in /r/cscareerquestions should either contain a question, or contain substantial content worthy of discussion. No rants, stories, links without context, or one-liners are allowed.
  8. Comments should be on-topic.: Comments in /r/cscareerquestions are required to be relevant to the post/discussion.
  9. Comments should be professional and helpful.: Comments in /r/cscareerquestions should be polite, professional, and helpful.
  10. Use ModMail instead of PMing moderators if you have issues.: If you have questions relating to the subreddit, such as having your posts removed, use ModMail to contact the moderators. Do not directly PM any moderator. Messages sent to /r/cscareerquestions will be sent to ModMail.
  11. Name & Shames are only for behavior that is blatantly unethical, illegal, or exceptionally shitty.: Name & Shames should be for corporate behavior that is blatantly dishonest/unethical, illegal, or exceptionally shitty. Non-exceptional Name & Shame posts will be removed and redirected to Glassdoor, the Daily Chat thread, or the Friday Rant thread.
