The rules, in their words

1. No abusive speech based on race, religion, sex/gender, or sexual orientation * No harassment, threats, or advocating violence * No witch hunts or doxxing (Redact usernames when possible) * Weaponized blocking or deleting nearly all post/comment history may result in a permanent ban * You may attack ideas, not each other
2. Discussion must be on-topic.: No discussion unrelated to Unidentified Flying Objects. This includes: * Artwork not related to a UFO sighting * Adjacent topics without an explicit connection to UFOs
3. Be substantive.: This rule is an attempt to elevate the quality of discussion. Prevent lazy karma farming posts. This generally includes: * Posts containing jokes, memes, and showerthoughts. * AI generated content. * Posts of social media content without relevant context. e.g. "Saw this on TikTok..." * Posts with incredible claims unsupported by evidence. * “Here’s my theory” posts unsupported by evidence. * Short comments, and emoji comments. * Summarily dismissive comments (e.g. “Swamp gas.”).
4. No duplicate posts.: Posts of the same footage, link, or news article may not be posted within sixty days of one another. New articles or previously unlinked footage may be posted at any time. If you have multiple videos of the same object, include them all in the same post, not as individual submissions.
5. No commercial activity.: No advertisements, fundraisers, merchandise, or other commercial/fundraising links. 6. Titles must accurately represent the content of the submission.: Vague, heavily editorialized, misleading, clickbait, inaccurate post titles, or titles in all caps are not allowed.

8. No memes.: Meme posts are not allowed in the subreddit. Feel free to post them in r/ufomemes or elsewhere.

Submission statements may contain a summary or description of the content, why it is relevant to UFOs, the submitter's personal perspectives, or all of the above and must be at least 150 characters in length. If a statement is not added within thirty minutes of posting it will be removed.

11. Common Question posts must include a link to the previous question thread if previously asked.: Posts similar to previous [Common Question posts](https://www.reddit.com/r/ufos/wiki/commonquestions) must include a link to the previous thread. Our aim is to consolidate existing responses and discourage redundant posts from users who have not viewed previous threads. 12. Meta-posts must be posted in r/ufosmeta: Meta-posts, meaning posts focused on moderation, subreddit critiques, rule changes, and feature requests, must be posted in r/ufosmeta.
13. No toxic, dramatic, or off-topic content regarding public figures.: Public figures any person or organization who has achieved notoriety or is well-known in society or ufology. This includes: * Posts that are primarily about public figures and not their claims. * Posts and comments that are rude, hateful, obscene, or threatening. * Posts and comments that primarily amplify drama surrounding public figures. 14. Off-topic political discussion may be removed at moderator discretion.: Off-topic, political comments may be removed at moderator discretion. There are political aspects which are relevant to ufology, but we aim to keep the subreddit free of partisan politics and debate.
15. No Proselytization: No discussion is allowed that can be interpreted as recruitment efforts into UFO religions, or attempts to hijack conversation with overtly religious dogma. However, discussion about religious, spiritual, or metaphysical concepts is in-bounds within comments, provided that it is respectful and offered with humility.
