Self-promotion is allowed but must be thoughtful and limited, following a 9:1 ratio of quality discussion posts to promotional posts. Advertising and excessive self-promotion are banned.

The rules, in their words

1. Follow the general submission guidelines: • All submissions must be directly relevant to SPY x FAMILY. • Titles must be concise. ○ No emoji spam. ○ No ALL CAPS titles. ○ No overly vague or irrelevant titles. ○ No clickbait, misleading, editorialized, or sensationalist titles. • Flair your posts appropriately.
2. Be civil and respectful: • Harassment, any kind of hate speech, personal attacks and insults, verbal abuse, etc. towards other users of the subreddit are strictly forbidden. • Respect each other’s opinions, encourage discussion, and be friendly. • There is a difference between constructive criticism and insults. • Do not start drama or flame wars. • Ignore trolls and do not engage in arguments. You will both be warned or even banned.
3. All fanart and cosplays must directly link to the original source: • If the fanart is original content (OC) made by you, please mention it in the title or include "[OC]" in the title. You may upload your work directly or through any medium. • If the fanart is not original content (non-OC) made by you, you must submit the fanart as a LINK POST, linking directly to the original source by copy-pasting the URL of the work into the URL space that's available when making a link post. You must include the original artist's handle or account name in the title.
4. All news and official media submissions must provide a valid source: • This means reputable news sources like Anime News Network, the author/editor/publisher's Twitter, or the publisher site. • Do not post images of tweets from "leak" accounts on Twitter or their content as they are not legitimate or trustworthy sources.
5. Do not link to illegal piracy or aggregate sites: • /r/SpyxFamily does not endorse any sort of third party that is profiting off of a copyright infringement. Please avoid linking to illegal third-party sites. Encourage other users to search for legal alternatives and support the creators. • Links may not be allowed, however, naming or describing the site is fine. • You may private message the link as an alternative to commenting.
6. Spoilers: • Do not put spoilers in titles. • The latest episode or chapter is regarded as spoilers for 24 hours after the official discussion thread is posted. • Any source material which is not covered in the anime is considered spoilers in this subreddit.
7. Avoid reposting: • Do not repost anything from the top 100 all-time or anything posted within the last 3 months. It will be removed. • Use the search bar, your search engine, and the FAQ to ensure that you are not reposting recent content or already answered questions.
8. Read the FAQ: • Any question answered in the FAQ will be removed. It covers the anime, manga, light novel, and more. • If your post is not covered in the FAQ, check the rest of the sidebar. • If your question is still not answered, it's probably a recently posted question. Use the search bar or your search engine to ensure that you are not reposting already answered questions.
9. NSFW content: • This includes obvious fetish posts, sexually suggestive or provocative cosplays, actual nudity or hentai, and so on. • Hentai, distasteful images, overly explicit or pornographic content is not allowed and will be removed. • Certain NSFW content is permitted but must be properly tagged as NSFW, either by clicking the button labeled nsfw or including “[NSFW]” in the title. • Any NSFW content of minors in SPY x FAMILY is strictly forbidden. You will be banned immediately without warning.
10. No advertising, spamming, and excessive self-promotion allowed: • This includes links to unofficial merchandise, unaffiliated Discord servers, and offshoot subreddits. • Self-promotion should be thoughtful, limited, and consistently well received by the community. The 9:1 ratio (i.e. every one promotional post should be followed by approximately nine quality discussion threads) should be followed.
11. Limit low effort submissions: • No low-effort memes, image macros, edits, or shitposts. • No poll posts where the focus is entirely on a simple and basic poll. • No threads with only a few sentences without much thought or research put into it. • Do not post plain panels, pages, screenshots, gifs, or scenes of the manga and anime. ○ A plain panel or scene must show visible effort to generate discourse rather than simply react to something that happened. Just a title isn't enough to create a discussion.
12. Cosplays on Saturdays Only: Cosplay posts are only allowed from 00:00 UTC to 23:59 UTC on Saturday. Posts outside of this period will be removed.
