The rules, in their words

1. The Verification Rule: Roastees must be shown holding a piece of paper with "RoastMe" handwritten onto it in the first image if it is a series. Your pic must make the sign-holding hand & arm (meat tube) visible. You can optionally include your username and/or a timestamp to prevent someone else reposting. Posts with multiple people must include everyone appearing alongside the sign. The roastee(s) must be visibly aware of what is written. Only 18+ humans are capable of giving consent to being roasted.
2. The Photoshop Rule: Using Photoshop, MSPaint, or any other image editing tool to evade The Verification Rule is strictly prohibited and may result in a ban. The use of filters is heavily discouraged and your post will be removed if the filter prevents us from being sure of the photo's authenticity. **This includes "floating hands"** or signs held by fingers without any implication of an arm. If we suspect your submission to be photoshopped it will be removed and you will be asked to prove your consent.
3. The Underage Rule: All roastees featuring on this subreddit must be **eighteen years or older**. Your post will be removed if you appear underage, or if context clues (e.g. Roastee is wearing a high school uniform or picture was taken in a high school classroom) lead us to conclude that the Roastee may be underage. You may be required to submit proof of age via modmail in order to post. Posting images of very young children will result in a ban.
4. The Image Hosting Rule: `imgur.com`, `i.reddituploads.com`, and `i.redd.it` are the only image hosting sites supported officially by reddit, and are the only ones we allow here. Links to unrecognized image hosting websites will be removed by AutoModerator. All link submissions must be roasts, articles and links to other subreddits should be posted to /r/RoastMeta. Only static photos are permitted, no videos or GIFs.
5. The Unfunny Abuse Rule: There is a clear and definitive line between humor and abuse. If your comment cannot be reasonably expected to make an audience laugh, and is instead meant to intimidate or threaten another user, your posted comment will be removed. By using this site you agree not to send abusive PM's to the roastee or harass them outside of this subreddit, evidence proving otherwise will be forwarded to the site admins.
6. The Suspicious URL Rule: Users may not link to URLs that are in any way obfuscated. External link shorteners including bit.ly or tinyurl are disallowed, but redd.it links are acceptable. Attempting to deceive users by using markdown to disguise the target URL is strictly forbidden, as demonstrated below with a hyperlink sending the user to Google: * [http://www.reddit.com/](http://www.google.com/) Using this method to direct the user to malware or pornography is a bannable offense.
7. The Inappropriate Flattery Rule: /r/RoastMe is intended to serve as a platform for mocking other people in good faith, it is not a dating website where you should flirt with women who post here in an effort to win their affection. Neither is it a support group for the depressed or overweight. Everyone who posts here has consented to getting roasted, attempting to make them feel good about themselves only implies they are incapable of making their own voluntary choices and require special treatment.
8. The Meta Post Rule: Meta posts (aka Self Posts and Text Posts) are for discussion only. Meta posts which do not invite discussion or are posted in an attempt to avoid The Image Hosting Rule will be removed.
9. The Doxxing Rule: Users must not reveal any personal information that could lead to others obtaining the identity of the roastee, including but not limited to: * Phone numbers * User accounts on non-Reddit websites * Real names * Location of where photos were taken * Email addresses Roastees who accidentally reveal their own personal information will have their posts removed. Intentionally exposing someone else's personal information will always result in a permaban.
10. The Consent Rule: Everyone in the photograph must be aware of the sign and consent to being roasted. This means that every person in the photograph must be holding the sign or otherwise indicating that they consent (e.g. by pointing to the sign). Photographs that include other people in the background whose faces are visible (or who are otherwise identifiable) will be removed. You may post photos of people other than yourself, as long as it is clear that the person consents to the roast.

12. The "Don't Be Evil" Rule.: Do not make any comment that can be interpreted as wishing physical harm on someone or urging them to commit an act of violence on themselves or others. Do not make jokes at the expense of children, be they actual or implied. Do not make any comment that may be construed as malicious concerning anyone's race, religion, or sexual orientation/identity. This is a comedy subreddit. Be funny. Please remember the human. Violation of this rule may result in a ban, at moderator discretion.
13. The Advertisement Rule: Using post titles or roastee bio comments to directly advertise goods/services is forbidden, will be treated as spam, and removed. The OP may face punishment up to & including perma ban. Any account whose majority purpose on Reddit looks to be personal promotion (YouTube, OF, etc) and seems to only be posting in r/Roastme to drive traffic for personal profit will be denied. Repeat attempts to post may lead to a ban. Roastees may still advertise as a parent comment or in response to a request
