Self-promotion and sales posts are prohibited. If you wish to advertise a product or your work, you must contact the moderators for prior approval. Posts directing to external websites are generally not allowed without this approval.

The rules, in their words

1. Handwritten entries only: This sub is for handwritten journal entries, whether it's in a physical notebook or an app. Questions about apps and entries typed in an app belong in r/digitaljournaling If you want to use your Reddit as a diary (typed entries) please check out r/DiaryOfARedditor
2. No art journals: Pictures need to include writing to be considered a journal, or it needs to be obvious there will eventually be writing (before-the-pen is allowed). Collage art and pages covered in ephemera belong in r/JournalingIsArt Artwork belongs in r/drawing or r/sketches
3. No stationery or unused / closed notebooks: This is a sub to discuss and share journaling, not a new notebook or stationery haul. Subs to check out for these topics: r/notebooks, r/stationery, r/fountainpens, r/edc Pictures of used notebooks such as a stack or shelf full of past journals are fine.
4. Stay civil: Posts shared here at times can be personal. Please avoid toxic energy, such as: + No racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, & ignorance + No joking about serious topics like rape, death, or self harm + No poking/ridiculing someone about their religion or beliefs + No making fun of a persons handwriting + No attacking someone for being/sharing something personal ##Please follow [the Reddiquette](https://www.reddithelp.com/hc/en-us/articles/205926439) at all times.
5. No Self Promotion or Sales: Posts that direct to another website are prohibited unless you have obtained prior mod approval. This includes posts linking to medical, scientific, other related journals. We do not allow data gathering of any kind. Please refrain from promoting things you or others have created for sale on a market. **If you would like to advertise your product, contact the moderators.** Our community loves journal related giveaways! If you want to advertise an app, you're looking for r/digitaljournaling.
6. No Spam: Do not share the same posts repeatedly, and do not post more than four times in a day. If you post more than once, please space out the posts, don't post back-to-back. If you're sharing multiple pictures of a journal, please consider posting all the pictures in one post versus one post per page or your posts might be removed.
