As If History Matters
Don't launch hereSelf-promotion or “I made X” posts get removed or banned.
Can you post your project here?
Posts should focus on specific, measurable economic phenomena from the past, older than 20 years, and be backed by academic sources. Avoid blogspam and clearly titled content.
Before you post: The rules do not explicitly mention self-promotion or project launches; however, the emphasis on academic sources, specific economic phenomena, and avoiding 'blogspam' suggests personal projects or product announcements would likely be removed.
The rules, in their words
- Focus on economic history: Content related to the history of economics, or history of economic thought, is outside the scope of this sub. Content should be specific and focus on measurable economic phenomena. If posing a claim, the poster should present or link to relevant data.
- No blogspam: Refrain from posting the same content that you circulated in several other subreddits.
- Create clear titles: No over-editorialized titles or vague conspiracy theories.
- No current events: The phenomenon under examination must be older than 20 years. For a deep dive into the rationale for this rule, please refer to the discussion on r/AskHistorians.
- Be ready to provide sources: Posts describing or making claims on past phenomena should be sufficiently backed with sources from academic research. This also applies to image and video submissions. Commenters will also be expected to provide sources for claims.
- Follow Reddiquette: Formerly informal rules of Reddiquette will be formally enforced at mod discretion.
- No racism, sexism, or other acts of marginalization: No racism, sexism, or other acts that marginalize communities on the basis of their identity.
