The rules, in their words

1. All posts must be about deciding to be better and follow posting criteria: Posts should: - Show a desire to improve your current self or situation - Be well-formatted and clearly written in English. - Have appropriate flair to help categorize the content correctly. Advice-seeking posts should ideally be titled with “How do I [insert area you want to improve on]” so others can better understand which area you need help with. Posts that are off-topic, asking for advice on staying in an unhealthy relationship or life decisions will be removed
2. Be respectful and no bigotry is allowed : All comments and interactions should embody the spirit of "deciding to be better." This means no name-calling, insulting, arguing, trolling, hate speech, bigotry, or otherwise disrespectful comments. Comments of this nature will be removed, and in some cases, users may receive a permanent ban. Remember that people are here to learn from their mistakes and be better.
3. No NSFW, porn or masturbation addiction posts/discussions are allowed: Content related to gore, abuse, violence, sexual acts, or self-harm will be removed. If you are seeking advice for porn or masturbation addiction, please proceed to r/nofap or r/pornfree for support.
4. Strictly NO links/spam/self-promotion/advertising: - Posts and comments with links are not allowed and will be removed. If you want to talk how a book or product has helped you, just name the title of the product without the link and urging other people to purchase as that is counted as promotion. - No posts and comments promoting subreddits, social media, services or apps etc. are allowed and will be removed. - Users who repeatedly violate this rule will be warned, and in some cases, permanently banned. No exceptions will be made.
5. No venting/self-hate posts or posts talking about self-harm/suicide: We understand that some users are in a dark place and need support, but r/decidingtobebetter is not equipped to provide you with the appropriate help. - Posts that are simply ranting about a situation without any desire to improve will be removed. Please proceed to r/vent, r/rant, or r/offmychest for such posts. - If you are considering suicide, please visit r/suicidewatch and contact your local suicide helplines or a professional for support. For mental health suport, visit r/mentalhealth.
6. No seeking/offering medical advice or diagnosis: - We are not medical professionals. Please consult a doctor for medical advice or diagnosis. - Any comments attempting to "armchair diagnose" will also be removed to avoid spreading misinformation.
7. No drug/medication advice : Comments advising or encouraging others to try drugs or other medication as a solution to their problems (even if legal in some countries) will be removed. We cannot know the medical history of others, and not everyone will have the same reaction as you did. Additionally, drugs may be illegal in some countries. Do NOT offer or ask for advice or tips on how to obtain drugs.
8. Requests for services, goods, or assistance are not permitted: Fundraising posts or requests for financial or non-financial assistance are not allowed. Posts seeking services are also not allowed. Please proceed to r/assistance or r/gofundme for such topics.
9. NO political debates or discussions: Any posts regarding politics will be removed.
