Can you post your project here?

Selling items and crowdfunding are explicitly prohibited. There are also minimum karma requirements to post, and posts should be original content with necessary information or avoid topics easily found by Googling. Content quality is important, and certain types like memes are banned.

Before you post: Selling items and crowdfunding are prohibited. Minimum karma is required to post.

The rules, in their words

  1. Pictures & Videos: All astrophotos and videos submissions must be original content and include acquisition and processing information as a comment to the post. Submissions must be exceptional quality. Astro art is allowed but does not need to meet the requirements of acquisition information but does need to be OC and meet quality requirements. See [this thread for more info](https://www.reddit.com/r/Astronomy/comments/fq44oo/read_the_rules_sub_before_posting)
  2. Object Identification: If you are asking for help identifying an object you must first have referred to [this thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/Astronomy/comments/92zks3/), consulted the flow chart there, and used all tools linked in the [stickied comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/Astronomy/comments/92zks3/comment/e39kask/). If you are still unable to answer the question yourself, make sure you include a time, location, direction, and angle above the horizon.
  3. Questions: Posts that ask questions that can be easily answered by a few minutes on Google/YouTube will be removed. To ensure your post is not removed, ask specific questions letting readers know what you have already learned/tried. Similarly posts that ask for subjective answers, lack necessary information to answer, asks for basic sources on topics (i.e., "What books/blogs should I read?") will be removed. We're here to help you learn - not to do your thinking or do your homework for you.
  4. Telescope Help: Before asking questions about telescopes, please refer to [this thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/telescopes/comments/847n0i/for_anyone_posting_what_telescope_should_i_get). If you need additional help, try /r/Telescopes. See also the rules regarding Questions.
  5. Content: Rage comics, memes, infographics, etc... are not allowed. Avoid multiple exclamation marks, excessive CAPS, or editorializing submission titles. Selling items, crowdfunding, etc... are prohibited. Look, we get it. Carl Sagan was a HUGE pothead. Post your stoner moments over at /r/woahdude/
  6. Behavior: All content should be on topic and respectful. We do not allow content which is cliche, low-brow, disrespectful, etc.... If you think a post violates sub rules, use the report or contact the moderators. Do not be abusive to the poster.
  7. Sources: Primary or reputable secondary sources ONLY. Journalists with such sources are welcome to post links to articles. Spam bots are not. If posting a journal article (arXiv, etc.), you must offer commentary as a top level comment. ChatGPT and other AIs, YouTube, Medium, IFLS, and other sources of questionable and inconsistent quality are not allowed.
  8. Repetition & Relevance: When posting news, please verify that the topic hasn't already been posted in the past few days. Submissions should be recent enough or historically significant enough to be relevant. Astronomy can be done in space but space flight is not astronomy.
  9. Misinformation & Pseudoscience: /r/Astronomy is a science based sub. Pseudoscience (Creationism, Electric Universe, Flat Earthism, Ancient Aliens, Moon Landing conspiracy, etc...) will be removed. Similarly, this is not the place for half baked "theories", outlandish hypotheticals, or other misinformation.
  10. Minimum Karma: To discourage spammers and bots, we require a minimal amount of karma to post or comment in this sub. If you are unable to post, you will need to raise your post/comment karma in other subs without such minimums.
  11. Post Types: Submissions should make use of the appropriate submission type. I.e., Images and external links should not be placed in a text post.
