Don't launch hereSelf-promotion or “I made X” posts get removed or banned.

Can you post your project here?

Self-promotion and advertising are explicitly not allowed. Posts should focus on asking questions about the UK that lead to insightful discussions, not on promoting personal projects or brands.

Before you post: Rule 2 explicitly prohibits advertising, brands, solicitation or begging.

The rules, in their words

  1. Don’t be a dick: Don't be a dick to each other, or other subreddits, places, or people. AskUK contains a variety of ages, experiences, and backgrounds - consider not everyone is operating on the same level or background as you. Listen to others before you respond, and be courteous when doing so.
  2. Not all topics can be discussed here: We do not accept any and all questions and may remove posts which are best answered in more specialised subreddits. We explicitly do not allow questions containing: politics, tech, relationships, DIY, uni/education, visas, citizenship, medical advice (and mental health), rants, venting, surveys, advertising, brands, solicitation or begging (direct or otherwise), "does anybody" type posts, race, religion and more. Before posting, check the subreddits in the sidebar for more suitable subreddits.
  3. Put a bit of effort into your questions: We invite users to post interesting questions that create informative, good to read, insightful, helpful, or light-hearted discussions. We do not allow basic, throwaway questions which put most of the effort on our readers to figure out, or endlessly repeating common questions that have been asked over and over again. Questions must have a genuine, clear, and concisely posed open question in their title, and with enough information into the body of your post to allow our users to give answers
  4. Do your own research before posting: Some questions can easily be searched online in order to find an answer - including questions like “what is the average salary of an X job?” or “what is living in Y like?” or “where can I buy X?” AskUK is not your search engine and the answers to these questions are easily found using basic research and internet-skills. You are expected to research your question before posting, and include in your post how/where you have researched before you have posted your question.
  5. Contact the organisation first: AskUK is not the customer service helpline of any company in the UK and we will remove submissions that only the relevant organisation will be able to help with. AskUK cannot be used because you have been unable to or failed to contact the organisation. The first step of any issue is to communicate with the people involved. You should contact the company through all available methods, including phone, e-mail, social media, and use their complaints process (e.g., using a service like Resolver)
  6. Comments replying to the submission/question should attempt to answer the question given: 'Top-level comments' (https://redd.it/41vmzx/) which do not answer the question being asked may be removed. Where the 'SERIOUS' flair is in use, this will also result in a short ban. Please ensure you make efforts to answer the question. You should not comment in response to the submission if you are not answering the Q, and are not being helpful. Replies to existing comments are not affected by this rule. See rule 1.
  7. Use megathreads where appropriate: At certain times of the year, or during certain events, a large number of users may be asking similar questions. The moderators may create a megathread to consolidate frequently asked questions. Please use these submissions when they are available, and feel free to suggest to the mods if a megathread should be created for a topic.
  8. Moderator enforcement and discretion: Moderators retain the right to unilaterally decide what the definitions of terms included in these rules are, as well as when and how these rules are enforced. Mods may issue bans at their discretion taking into consideration the rule broken, in what manner it was broken, and repeat offences. The tone of user contact in modmail heavily influences the tone of the response given by mods.
