Can you post your project here?

This subreddit is for questions about engineering topics, design, processes, and careers. Personal projects or the process of building them are not allowed if they are homework or class-related. General career questions are restricted to a weekly thread.

Before you post: Rule 2 explicitly bans questions from designing projects, including problem-solving projects like egg drops. While not directly mentioning sharing a finished project, the spirit of the rule suggests such posts would be removed.

The rules, in their words

  1. Titles must be a question about engineering: All questions should relate to engineering. Make every effort to ensure that your questions are clear, specific, and relevant. For the purposes of this subreddit, "engineering" includes: * Engineering design and analysis of maintainable systems, devices, and vehicles. * Engineering standards, practices, methods, procedures, and specifications. * Careers and professional development in any discipline of engineering must meet the requirements in Rule 7. * Review the wiki for more clarifications.
  2. No homework questions: DO NOT ask for help solving homework assignment questions, designing projects, or questions from classes. This includes problem-solving projects like egg drops, spaghetti bridges, etc. Go to r/HomeworkHelp, r/engineeringstudents, or r/AskElectronics if you need help with a homework assignment. It is allowed to ask about engineering principles related to projects, & engineering case studies.
  3. Avoid questions that can be answered by researching on the internet: If you didn't spend at least 30 minutes looking for an answer on your own, then you probably didn't try hard enough.
  4. Be respectful to other users: All users are expected to behave with courtesy. Demeaning language, sarcasm, rudeness or hostility towards another user will get your comment removed. We do not tolerate racism, sexism, or any other form of bigotry. ###Voting Guidelines: * Upvote good answers, followup questions, and relevant discussion. * Downvote wrong answers, answers that don't explain anything, and off-topic comments. If you downvote, leave a comment explaining why — if you can't even bother to do that, don't vote.
  5. Don't answer if you aren't knowledgeable: Answers must contain an explanation using engineering logic. Explanations and assertions of fact must include links to supporting evidence from credible sources, and opinions need to be supported by stated reasoning. ###Ask yourself: * Do I have the expertise needed to answer this question? * Have I done research on this question? * Can I cite my sources? * Can I answer follow-up questions? If you answered "No" to one or more of these questions, seriously reconsider what you're posting.
  6. Be substantive: AskEngineers is a serious discussion-based subreddit with a focus on evidence and logic. We do not allow unsubstantiated opinions on engineering topics, low effort one-liner comments, memes, off-topic replies, or pejorative name-calling. The mods will remove any comments that do not contribute to the discussion. This includes memes, reaction images, copypasta, and comments that lack substance.
  7. No generic Career/Workplace Posts: * No generic career/workplace posts are allowed * Generic career posts that are related specifically to engineering are allowed **only** in the weekly r/AskEngineers Career thread * Being employed as an engineer alone does not make a career question engineering specific. It must have some aspect that makes it unique to engineering and not suitable for another career related sub. * For generic career/workplace questions try /r/AskHR, /r/careeradvice or /r/jobs
