Self-promotion, including advertising products or YouTube channels, is not allowed on this subreddit. The focus is on answering specific cooking questions. General discussion or brainstorming is also discouraged.

Before you post: Rule 10 explicitly states that self-promotion is not allowed. This includes advertising YouTube channels or products.

The rules, in their words

  1. Please avoid questions about Food Safety: Food safety questions are difficult for us to answer, so please instead see [USDA's](https://www.fsis.usda.gov/food-safety/safe-food-handling-and-preparation) topic portal, the [StillTasty](https://www.stilltasty.com/) website or ask on /r/FoodSafety. Remember, if in doubt, throw it out.
  2. Avoid Brand Comparisons and Recommendations: We're also avoiding brand recommendations or comparisons for kitchen equipment. Kitchen equipment preferences tend to be subjective and personal. Few people have enough experience with multiple brands to make useful comparisons.
  3. Please include enough information: We can't help you troubleshoot a recipe if you don't provide one. Please provide your recipe in the body of your post. If your recipe is video based, write out the recipe. Not everyone can watch a video when they see your post.
  4. Avoid recipe requests: Anything they could google, they should google before asking about here. Vague requests for suggestions as to what to make with an ingredient are included in that. We can do pairings if the question is specific. Otherwise it breaks down into general brainstorming.
  5. Avoid brainstorming: For lots of good answers, send them to /r/Cooking. We're better for the one right answer. There's a lot of grey area on this one, so if it's pretty specific it might be alright.
  6. Avoid deliberate attempts to offend or pick a fight: Don't need those rude jerks here.
  7. Top level comments MUST answer the question.
  8. Comment Etiquette: Comments should be factual, helpful, thorough and respectful. Comments should avoid abuse, jokes, chatter, speculation, and especially links without explanations. If a comment or post does not adhere to these guidelines, please use the "REPORT" link beneath the comment or post to notify the mods.
  9. Avoid questions about culinary careers: Culinary career questions are better answered by the pros in /r/chefit and /r/kitchenconfidential. Please ask there.
  10. Avoid Self-Promotion: Advertising your youtube channel or line of sauces or whatever is not allowed.
  11. Avoid Open-ended Discussion: Our sub is focused on answering specific questions about specific cooking problems. Requests for general tips and tricks is outside of the scope of the sub. For general discussion on culinary topics, please see /r/cooking or many of the subs listed in our sidebar.
